Professor Anil Hormis is a Consultant in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine at the Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust. He qualified from the University of Sheffield in 2000. He has had specialist training in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine in Sheffield and London.

He is an Honorary Professor at Sheffield Hallam University and is heavily involved in medical education at a regional and national level. He has conducted extensive research in Anaesthesia and Critical Care Medicine and has published his work in peer-reviewed journals. He has presented work at national and international conferences on a variety of topics in anaesthesia and critical care medicine. In addition he has written book chapters for textbooks in anaesthesia.

Professor Hormis has a wealth of experience in all aspects of general and regional anaesthesia for Orthopaedic surgery. This includes spinal and epidural anaesthesia and peripheral nerve blocks for post-operative pain relief. He works closely with the surgeons to develop the best techniques for the greatest patient satisfaction, safety and rapid recovery.
