Hand and wrist

Our Hand and Wrist service offers advanced care for traumatic injuries, degenerative conditions and congenital anomalies affecting the digits, wrist and distal forearm. We diagnose and treat fractures, tendon lacerations, nerve compressions (carpal and cubital tunnel syndromes), trigger digits, de Quervain’s tenosynovitis and arthritis of the wrist and basal thumb joint. Diagnostic modalities include high‑resolution ultrasound, MRI and nerve conduction studies. Conservative management may involve splintage, hand therapy and corticosteroid injections, while surgical options range from minimally invasive arthroscopy and endoscopic decompression to microsurgical tendon and nerve repair, joint fusion, prosthetic joint replacement and tendon transfer procedures. Post‑operative rehabilitation is led by specialist hand therapists, focusing on oedema control, scar management, range‑of‑motion exercises and progressive strengthening to restore dexterity, grip strength and functional independence in daily tasks and vocational activities. Our holistic approach ensures optimal outcomes for even the most complex hand and wrist pathologies.
